LOOK: The Department of Education (DepEd) Bicol Region has been recommended for ISO 9001:2015 certification after successfully passing a series of audits conducted by its commissioned external auditor.
The announcement came during the closing meeting of the External Quality Audit on Quality Management System (QMS) held online on March 6, 2024. Auditors from TUV Nord Philippines, Inc., a member of the prestigious German TÜV NORD GROUP, confirmed that DepEd Bicol has successfully passed a series of rigorous audits, demonstrating compliance with the ISO 9001:2015 Standard.
The stage 1 external audit was conducted on February 8, 2024, focusing on the presentation of documentary requirements and other ISO requirements. From February 26-27, 2024, the Regional Office underwent Stage 2 of the onsite audit, where auditors meticulously assessed the organization’s readiness for ISO certification. Led by Mr. Edmund Angelo Larroza and Ms. Amelita Lilibeth Cruz, the audit team reviewed management system documentation and evaluated site-specific conditions to verify compliance.
DepEd Bicol Director Gilbert Sadsad commended the dedication of DepEd Bicol employees towards maintaining high standards of service delivery. He emphasized the significance of consistency in implementing the Quality Management System and expressed gratitude to the central office for their support.
The journey towards ISO certification began with the implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) outlined in DepEd Order No. 009, s. 2021. The said policy focuses on integrating internal processes, enhancing staff competencies, ensuring consistency in service delivery, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through the QMS.
